Local teams have collected nearly 2 million kilograms of household waste

Since Nova’s two community embedded waste collection operations began at Ikemeleng and Smashblock, local teams have collected nearly 2 million kilograms of household waste that would have otherwise been burnt or dumped.

It seems fitting then that, around the time of this significant milestone, the organisation has published a new video that takes viewers inside the waste sorting facilities to meet the people who make it happen. The video unpacks Nova’s model, showing how skilled local teams based at mini-sorting facilities, using digital mapping and tracking tools, work in partnership with households. Together they are cleaning up their neighbourhoods, turning waste into a resource, and reducing pressure on landfills.
