COMMON DESTINY

South Africa is a very diverse and deeply divided country. The opponents of apartheid often used the image of a sebra to portray the idea of common destiny between races: it doesn’t matter whether you shoot a sebra in a white stripe or in a black stripe, the effect is the same. You cannot separate (keep apart) the aspects of on common reality. The same can be said about the many entities in our country today: rich and poor, industries and communities, urban and rural are in the end sharing a common destiny even if we often live in separate “worlds”.

We are aware of the power battles that are going on, and we appreciate that conflict is often the driving force of progress. But conflict can become destructive if the different entities do not keep in mind that efforts to destroy the other may bring about your own destruction.
